California High-Speed Rail

The California High-Speed Rail system is now a bond measure on the November ballot. It is my understanding that it is the only measure that Governor Schwarzenegger was willing to sign. Proponents claim the rail system will dramatically improve traffic congestion in major metropolitan areas thus reducing vehicle emissions. Round trip between SF and LA will take about 2.5 hours and cost $55. The total cost of the plan is estimated at around $5 billion.
